My Story

I rode fixed. I was hooked.

When I first rode my older brother's fixed gear as a high school sophomore back in 2012, I fell in love with fixed gear cycling before I got to the end of the block.

That first ride snowballed into selling all my video games to fund my first fixed gear, to riding everywhere to the point my parents worried I'd never get my driver's license (and worse, have my girlfriend drive ME to prom), to loving fixed gear so much that my parents worry if I'll ever get a "real job" instead of talking about bikes on the internet.

Growing up in a sleepy California suburb, I had to make my own fun. Riding fixed gear was my escape; it made the beige neighborhoods exciting as every cul-de-sac became a new bend to explore, and I could ride as far as my legs could take me to experience new places, for better or for worse. Now, I’m traveling the world with my bike, sharing my love for fixed gear cycling with everyone.

Cycling makes my life better; it makes me happier, it makes me feel confident, it saves me so much money that I can comfortably retire when I turn 35, and it helps me forget that I was ever diagnosed with depression.

I can't stop riding. Don't want to either. If you get that reference, we can be friends.

Ride on,

Zach Gallardo
